There are journeys that do not begin with a specific destination, but with the desire to be surprised. “Strada facendo” is a poetic, lively and engaging performance, inspired by a true story: a trip across the municipalities of Northern Italy, picked at random, day by day, and reached by hitchhiking, to meet people, landscapes and stories.

At the Polifunzionale Rasin, the company stradestorie presents a performance that brings together expressive reading, acting, singing, music and images, accompanying the audience on a journey made of encounters, irony, memory and humanity.

🧳 A journey guided by chance

It all begins with a few envelopes containing the names of the municipalities of Northern Italy. Each day, a place is chosen at random and reached by hitchhiking, without following a predetermined itinerary.

From this real-life experience first comes a travel diary and then a performance, with the protagonist on stage telling the story, engaging the audience and sharing the stages of an unconventional adventure.

A modern-day traveler “à la Kerouac”, with a trolley in tow, crosses roads, towns and encounters, letting himself be guided by chance and by people’s willingness to help.

🎭 Readings, music and encounters

“Strada facendo” is a performance that weaves together different forms of expression: expressive reading, acting, singing, music and images.

The story takes shape through the ordinary and surprising stories of the people met along the way, in a continuous alternation of waiting and gifts, glimpses and wounds, tears and smiles.

The audience is not merely a spectator, but is playfully involved, becoming part of the journey and the narrative.

The performance is a heartfelt and unsentimental tribute to Italy: a country portrayed in all its contradictions, between solidarity and disillusionment, decline and hope.

Through quotes, words, songs and images, a multifaceted view emerges of the world of encounters along the road, with irony, wit and poetry.

The music recalls great names in Italian songwriting, from Rino Gaetano to Ivano Fossati, from Francesco De Gregori to Luciano Ligabue, passing through Irene Grandi, Adriano Celentano, Claudio Baglioni, Elisa and Giorgio Gaber.
