On Monday, January 4, the second event of the historic festival, featuring “Canto a Las Mujeres”, a performance that weaves together music, movement and poetry in a journey through the traditions of the world.

The XXV Valdidentro Choral Festival continues with a new event dedicated to music and its many expressive forms. After the opening evening scheduled for December 30 in Isolaccia, the festival moves to the Chiesa di Premadio, on Monday, January 4, 2027, for a concert that promises to take the audience on a particularly engaging musical journey.

This second evening will feature Wildflowers, an original female choir formation that will present the performance “Canto a Las Mujeres”, a project in which singing becomes a tool for expression, memory and sharing.

An event that enriches the Festival with new sounds and languages, confirming the spirit of openness and artistic variety of a festival that this year celebrates the important milestone of its 25th edition.

The Coro Stelvio opens the Festival’s second evening

This second event too is organized and promoted in close collaboration with the Coro Stelvio, conducted by Maestro Matteo Bertolina, long the soul of the festival and a benchmark for the promotion of choral tradition in Alta Valle.

As tradition dictates, it will be the Coro Stelvio that will open the evening with its performance, welcoming the audience and introducing the guest group’s concert.

Reaching the 25th edition represents an important recognition of the path built over the years by the choir, which has been able to ensure continuity for the festival and foster encounters between different musical ensembles, keeping alive the bond between singing, culture and community.

Wildflowers: female singing as an expression of freedom and sharing

Founded in 2018 from an idea by Cecilia Fumanelli, singer, ethnomusicologist and music therapist, Wildflowers is a female choral project that finds its main source of inspiration in the diversity of voices, cultures and experiences.

The name itself, which means wild flowers, evokes the beauty of variety: just as each flower contributes its uniqueness to the richness of a meadow, each voice takes part in building a collective harmony.

The choir’s repertoire spans different cultures and territories, from the traditions of the Mediterranean to the Balkans, from the African continent to the Middle East, and on to Central and South America. Folk, ritual and work songs become opportunities to rediscover stories, sensibilities and musical heritages passed down over time.

Alongside the strictly musical dimension, there is an expressive exploration that also involves the body, rhythm and movement, giving rise to performances in which choral singing goes beyond the traditional concert format.

An approach that the group defines as “choral activism”, in which music also becomes a means to value diversity, promote mutual listening and give space to female expression.

“Canto a Las Mujeres”: a musical journey through cultures, stories and traditions

In Premadio, Wildflowers will present “Canto a Las Mujeres”, a choral performance dedicated to the female universe and the expressive power of singing.

Voices, gestures, choreography and poetry intertwine in a musical narrative that crosses sacred and secular traditions from different parts of the world.

The repertoire includes ritual songs, work songs and folk melodies that tell stories, emotions and collective memories. Through the harmony of voices and the expressive dimension of movement, the performance restores the value of a musical heritage in which identities, cultures and women’s stories are reflected.

An experience of listening that goes beyond the traditional concert, inviting the audience to be drawn in by evocative sounds and by an artistic language capable of bringing together music, bodily expression and meaning.

A Festival that continues to renew itself

The presence of Wildflowers testifies to the Valdidentro Choral Festival’s wish to pair the promotion of traditional singing with new musical experiences, capable of offering the audience different perspectives and sensibilities.

The milestone of the 25th edition thus becomes not only an opportunity to celebrate the festival’s journey, but also to look to the future, continuing to offer encounters between artistic realities united by a passion for music.

The Premadio evening will therefore be another moment of encounter and sharing in the festive atmosphere, with a concert in which female voices will be the stars of a musical story rich in evocative power.
