Founded in 2000 in Milan, on the initiative and under the direction of Elisabetta Sgarbi, La Milanesiana aims to bring together different fields of knowledge and the arts, presenting to the general public international leading figures from the cultural and scientific worlds: Nobel Prize winners in literature and science, Oscar-winning filmmakers and musicians who have received the highest international accolades. Over the years, the festival has increasingly broadened its scope and, in addition to Milan, it takes place in several cities in Italy, including, for the past ten years, Bormio.
Each year, La Milanesiana addresses a theme that defines and runs through the entire edition. This year, it is "Desire and the Law".
